1 Tbsp beaten egg (optional, for brushing crust)

1 Tbsp sugar (for sprinkling on top)
🍁 STEP 2 – INSTRUCTIONS 👩
1. Prep the apples
Peel and slice apples thinly. In a large skillet over medium heat, combine apples, lemon juice, both sugars, flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook 10 minutes until slightly softened. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and chill for 30 minutes.
2. Prepare crust
Preheat oven to 425°F. Roll out one crust into a 9-inch pie pan. Slice the second crust into 1-inch strips for a lattice top.
3. Assemble pie
Pour cooled filling into the crust. Lay lattice strips across the top, criss-crossing neatly. Tuck and crimp the edges.
4. Egg wash
Whisk milk + beaten egg (optional). Brush lattice and edges. Sprinkle with 1 Tbsp sugar.
5. Bake
Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350°F, cover loosely with foil, and bake 40 minutes more.
6. Cool
Let pie cool at least 4 hours (or overnight) so the filling sets.
7. Garnish & serve
Slice and enjoy your golden, spiced apple pie with friends & family.
