Gold vs Silver Bangles: How to Choose (and How to Mix Them)
Gold or silver is the second question everyone asks, right after size. There is no wrong answer, but there are a few easy ways to decide.
Start with what you already wear
Look at the jewelry you reach for most: your rings, your earrings, your watch. If it is mostly gold, gold bangles will slot right in. If it is mostly silver, start there. Your new stack should work with what is already on your hands.
The skin tone rule of thumb
A common styling rule: warm undertones (veins look greener, you tan easily) glow in gold, and cool undertones (veins look bluer, you burn easily) look crisp in silver. It is a guideline, not a law. Plenty of people wear both beautifully.
Think about the season
Gold feels like summer: sun, sand and tan wrists. Silver is the classic fall and winter look and pairs well with knits, denim and cooler colors. Many of our customers own a stack in each and switch with the seasons.
Price
Our silver bangles cost a little less than gold. For example, the Hammered Bangle is $60 in gold and $50 in silver, and the Floral Bangle is $100 in gold and $90 in silver. Our gold pieces are finished in 14K gold plating.
How to mix gold and silver in one stack
- Let one metal lead. Roughly two thirds of one metal and one third of the other looks intentional.
- Use the accent metal on your thinnest pieces. A silver Hammered Bangle between two gold Florals is an easy way to try it.
- Repeat it once more. If your stack mixes metals, a silver ring or earring on the same side ties it together.
- Keep the sizes the same so the mixed pieces fall together.
Should a stack be all one metal?
It can be. A single-metal stack is classic and polished, and it is how our Perfect Stack is styled. Mixed metals feel more personal and collected over time. Pick whichever feels like you, then read how to stack bangles for the rest.
